What does the name "Water's Edge Gathering" mean?
In the Bible, many times people found themselves in a position where they were at the edge of the water just before God did something huge. The nation of Israel miraculously crossing the Jordan River and the Red Sea (Joshua 3-4, Exodus 13-14), Jesus walking on Water and Peter following him (Matthew 14:22-33), and Jesus calling his first Disciples (or followers, Luke 5:1-10) are just a few examples. Standing at the Water's Edge gives an image of anticipation of what God is about to do, and that really fits us as a church. We live in anticipation of the great things God is doing in our Community and in our World.
Gathering is used because that's what "Church" means historically. Church is not a location or a building, but a Gathering of people who share a common purpose and mission. Water's Edge is a Gathering in a real sense; the building is just a building.
